I've been Tagged!

Well MaBunny over at Ables Antics has tagged me for a MeME and at least, the rules are simple, go to your picture folders, to the fourth folder, and NO EXCEPTIONS pick the fourth photo and post it and tell the story behind it.Then tag 4 others. Simple, right?

Where I'm at I only have 2 folders of pictures so, I'll use the 4th picture from it and here it is:
Ya'll should of known it would have been my kiddos! Aren't they cute! Nathan looks just like his Daddy, but with my family's coloring, all the guys on my side have gorgeous BLUE eyes and fair hair, even though in this picture he looks like a brunette, but like the nurses said when he was born, his hair is really a TAUPE color. While Sonya is starting to look more like me features wise, but she has her Daddy's HAZEL eyes and the GOLDEN BLONDE like her Aunties on her Mommy's side of the family. Neither of them got my coloring:(

I remember going to the store when Nathan was still a baby and my BFF from Ables Antics would come with me. I would be pushing the cart with him in his carrier and people would still turn to my BFF and ask HER how old HER adorable baby was! She would politely say something like "Well, I'm not sure since SHE'S (pointing to me) his Mother. Nikki how old is YOUR little blue eyed baby boy today?" Oh, they would get so flustered, look from me, to him, to her, and back. They must have thought we were lying.

People still ask my husband and I to this day how two brunettes could end up with two little blonde kids. I have to explain that I was the odd ball in my family, both my sisters were light blondes when they were young and that my hubbie was even light haired when he was little. Just wierd genetics.

I need to find the picture of my hubbie that his Aunt gave to me. He was about 6 months old in it and we compared it to Nathan's 6 month old baby picture. Except for the eye color, you would have thought they were twins. Same smile, same dimples, same hair color and they looked about the same weight, too! It was just too cute!

Well, I don't have lots of people to tag for this, but if you would like to do this MeMe, go ahead and do it, and just say you saw it here! Thanks and enjoy!

I've finally found something that is really helping me lose weight and who would have thought it would be a video game! I love doing Wii Fit! Since we bought it a little before Thanksgiving, I've lost almost 10 lbs! WOO HOO! That includes gaining some weight over the Holidays and then losing it all over again, so from my maximum weight to my lowest weight, which is from today, is almost 10 lbs.

Now, it's not just the Wii Fit though, I've also been trying to eat healthier. In the morning I'll mix up a protein shake in my Bullet knockoff little mixer, usually vanilla with some cinnamon sprinkled in since it's supposed to help keep bloodsugar levels even, and then on my lunch hour I'll do about 20 minutes of exercise on the Wii Fit and have another shake. Usually I'll have mix up about a cup worth of fruit with milk and the protein powder and drink it down while I'm watching the 12:00 news.

If I get hungry at work, I've got a big sandwich bag of roasted almonds that I can get a handful from and snack away. They are supposed to be heart healthy and full of protein. So, I really don't get that hungry anymore, except when I'm supposed to-every 3-4 hours or so. I've also noticed I don't get the cravings for sweets like I used to. Now I haven't been able to give up my major vice of Diet Cokes, but I do make sure I have a big bottle of water right along side my Diet Coke and take as many sips out of it as I do out of the Coke can.

For dinner, I've tried to just decrease my portion sizes since we've never been a real "Chicken Fried Steak and Potatoes" type family. We love our pasta's and I've been trying to add more vegetables to dinner, but have to admit it's been a challenge getting the kids to eat healthier, but I keep trying.

So, I'll keep ya'll posted on the weight loss and hopefully I'll just keep getting smaller and smaller. I'm hoping I can fit into an outfit I bought about 4 months before I got pregnant with Nathan. I'll be happy with that. I wasn't a skinny minny, never have been, but I certainly looked and felt a lot better back then. Wish me luck and if anyone else out there is waging war on being overwight, let me know!

Survived the Holidays!

Yeah, holidays are over and things are finally getting back to normal. Kids had their first full week back at school and boy, was it tough getting them back in the swing of things. Why is it that just 2 weeks away from school and they forget the routine they had been doing for 3 months? Oh, well, just got to keep trying, I guess.

Let's see what else has been going on? Not to much lately, been cold then warm, then really cold, then really warm, then back to cold again. Man, West Texas weather just doesn't know what it wants to do. If it would just stay cold, that would be great, if it would just stay warm that would be even better, but we'll have a couple of days of cold weather, a few warm days, then a few really cold days and the cycle starts all over again. No wonder everyone seems to be coming down with bad colds, pneumonia, and the poor babies and toddlers are getting RSV and ending up in the hospitals. It's been terrible.

Since I hadn't posted any adorable pictures of my kiddos in a while, I was having withdrawal symptoms. So, here are a few of the best from over Christmas. Nathan with one of his favorite presents from his Memaw, and then little bowhead Sonya who lost her front tooth just a few days before Christmas. Ain't she sweet? Believe me, it was just for a couple of minutes, then back to her regular rambunctious self. The next one of Sonya is when she's playing rockstar with a playset she also got from her Memaw. She is the biggest ham.

They had a great holiday and I was so glad I was able to spend at least one of those weeks with them. We had lots of fun, cleaning house, doing laundry, etc. No, just kidding! We went to the mall, saw Santa, Sonya was suddenly very shy and didn't want to sit on his lap and tell him what she wanted, so like I said, we just SAW Santa. Oh well, maybe next year she'll actually visit with Santa.

Til then, hope everyone had a Great Holiday Season and are having a very Happy New Year!
